Significant Temples
Every temple is significant, because each temple is a house of the Lord. Each is sacred and brings the greatest of God’s gifts for His children to the worthy who enter there. However, there are three particularly significant temples in early mormon history. These include the Kirtland Temple, the Nauvoo Temple, and the Salt Lake Temple. The Kirtland Temple was built first, but it was a place to receive the fullness of the truth and to have priesthood keys and knowledge restored to Joseph Smith. The Nauvoo was next, and in it God’s blessings were finally given to His children there. The Salt Lake Temple was a symbol that the Saints would not be leaving again. They built it of all the finest materials.
