I’m off to the grocery store to pick up supplies for our Saturday night barbecue. Most of the family is coming over for a cook-out and campfire. I love these occasions when we all get together. Usually my brother Rod brings his guitar, and we have a sing-along around the fire before it’s time to put the little ones to bed. On my shopping list are some steaks and burgers and both grilling flavor sprays for the meats. We spray them right onto the food, and it gives them so much more aroma and flavor. I’m not sure if I prefer the hickory or the mesquite. I think they’re both really great.

I have been looking for the a stain that can give my deck a natural look but that is not too expensive. Every brand that the salesman at the local home improvement store recommended was priced really high and he could not guarantee that it would keep the deck covered for at least five years. Then I found messmers stain online and think that it sounds like what I need. I am sure that I am going to order the natural color of messmers stain in about a month when the weather warms up consistently to stain my very weathered deck.

I grew up playing with a cool set of blocks called Lincoln Logs.   My friends and I would spend hours building cabins and fences and even Log Furniture out of those interlocking logs. It was a lot more fun that the video games that my kids seem to love.   Fast forward 35 years later and just the other day my wife asks me what I think about putting some custom  log furnishings in the living room.   It just made me smile as I thought of her as a little girl playing house with Lincoln Logs.  Since I’m not the interior decorator, I just nodded.

I was at the hardware store yesterday and I really liked a set up they had with garage storage cabinets.  My husband has this big workbench he made, with all kind of tools strewn about. I would love to have the garage organized and looking better.  He always tells me I get him silly gifts for Valentine’s Day, maybe this year I will surprise him and get a few storage cabinets.  Maybe once he sees how much nicer it would be to have his tools in places where he can find them he will go ahead and get a few more.  I wouldn’t want to do too much without his input, but a little nudge just might be what he needs to have the garage more efficient.
